    Please join us for our spring chapter meeting on Friday, April 1st. The meeting will held at the beautiful Heathman Lodge in Vancouver, WA. This is only 11 miles from the Portland International Airport.

    Many thanks to all of our attendees, volunteers, speakers, and vendor sponsors for making our fall meeting a big success.  The meeting included many distinguished speakers including the Chair of the AAPM Board, John Bayouth.  Topics covered included the impact of accountable care organizations, personalized medicine, the future of medical physics, and knowledge based treatment planning. You can see photos of the meeting here.  We are already starting to plan the spring meeting.  We hope to see you there!

    The NWAAPM will hold its fall chapter meeting in Seattle on September 4th, 2015.  The meeting will be located at Swedish Health Service's Cherry Hill Campus.  The meeting will focus on the future of medical physics and radiation oncology and will feature a number of distinguished speakers including John Bayouth, the Chair of the AAPM Board and Director of Medical Physics at the University of Wisconsin.

    40 years ago, a group of medical physicists in the Pacific Northwest signed the constitution for the Northwest chapter of the AAPM.  A screen capture from the constitution can be seen below.  Do you know any of these medical physicists?  As we celebrate 40 years as an organization, we are anticipating a great year with two excellent meetings in the works.

    Happy New Year from the NWAAPM!

    With the New Year, Rex Ayers moves into the role of President of the NWAAPM, David Shepard becomes the Past President, and Robin Miller becomes our representative to the AAPM Board of Directors.

    We want to thank George Sandison who wrapped up his three years as president elect, president, and past president.  George has been a tremendous asset to the NWAAPM and instrumental in the planning and execution of many excellent meetings.

    We have set our two meeting dates for 2015.  The spring meeting will be help on Friday May 1st at the Sheraton Portland Airport.  The fall meeting will be held on Friday September 4th at the Swedish Education and Conference Center in Seattle.  Please mark you calendars. 

    We are looking forward to a great year for your organization.

    Members of the NWAAPM are invited to attend the 2014 Annual Meeting of the Washington State Radiological Society.  That meeting will be held in Kirkland on Saturday, November 8, the day after the NWAAPM  Fall Meeting.

The Northwest Chapter of the AAPM is a regional chapter of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (www.aapm.org) covering the  states of Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.  We hold two educational meetings each year with a goal of advancing the science, education and professional practice of Medical Physics.
