About
Welcome to the Northwest Chapter of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (NWAAPM)!
We are a community of medical physicists serving the Northwest region, including Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Hawaii. Our chapter is dedicated to supporting the professional development of our members and fostering collaboration across the medical physics community.
Each year, we host scientific meetings during which members can present their research, share clinical innovations, earn continuing education credits, and engage in valuable networking with colleagues and vendors from across the region. These meetings also provide a platform for students and trainees to showcase their work and win prizes in the MedPhys SLAM and the Early Career Investigator Symposium.
Thank you for visiting our website. If you’re interested in membership, sponsorship opportunities, or attending one of our events, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’d love to hear from you!
The NWAAPM is led by an elected team of officers, including the Acting President, President-Elect, Past-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Chapter Representative to the AAPM Board. Annual elections for officer positions are held each spring, and we welcome you to consider nominating yourself or a colleague for a position on the NWAAPM Executive Committee. It’s a great way to help shape the direction of the chapter and support the broader medical physics community.
2025 Officers
Jess is a therapy medical physicist at the University of Washington. She is passionate about accessible education, medical physics outreach, and training the next generation of clinical physicists. Jessica currently serves as associate director of the UW residency program and is active with a number of AAPM groups related to education. She was featured in the Smithsonian’s “If/Then She Can” exhibit and received the 2025 JACMP Editor in Chief Award for Excellence.

Isaac is a Diagnostic Imaging Physicist & Assistant Professor at Oregon Health & Science University where he also received his graduate degree. After receiving his graduate degree from OHSU in 2017, he completed his residency at the Upstate Medical Physics program in 2019 and has happily been at OHSU since. Isaac currently serves as Associate Program Director of OHSU’s Diagnostic Imaging Physics Residency Program.

Miriam has been a therapeutic medical physicist with Kaiser Permanent NW in Portland, Oregon since January 2007. In addition to her current role as Secretary, she has previously served as President and Board Representative of the NW Chapter. She also chairs the AAPM Working Group for External Beam QA, the MPPG 20 working group on patient-specific QA, and the ABR OLA Committee for therapeutic medical physics. In her free time she enjoys hiking, gardening, and writing.

Amanda is a therapeutic medical physicist at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). She studied Medical Physics at OHSU and completed her residency training at the Ohio State University before returning to the Pacific Northwest. She contributes to AAPM initiatives focused on education and equity and regularly participates in STEM outreach efforts.
Stephanie is a therapy medical physicist with Northwest Medical Physics Center. She enjoys being active in AAPM through the Working Group for Non-Clinical Professionals (WGNC) and streamlining processes and procedures in the clinic.

Celeste Winters, Ph.D., is a Diagnostic Imaging and Nuclear Medicine Physicist at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), where she also completed her M.S., Ph.D., and residency. She provides clinical physics support to OHSU and its satellite facilities, focusing on nuclear medicine, PET, and radiopharmaceutical therapies and dosimetry. Celeste is actively involved in several AAPM and SNMMI initiatives related to radiopharmaceutical dosimetry and was named one of SNMMI’s “Ones to Watch” in 2024 for her work on this topic. She teaches and mentors students in OHSU’s medical physics graduate and residency programs and contributes nationally to educaiton through her work with the AAPM Work Group on Multi-Institutional Journal Clubs for Residency Programs (WGJCRP).
